Common Issues and Solutions

WARNING: CMT doesn't not support Safari browser.  Please use one of the browsers listed below.

If you continue to receive this error, please send email to cmt@microsoft.com along with the following information:

What is the problematic URL?
What is your Browser Type?
What is your operating system?
What is your CMT role? (e.g. Author, Reviewer, Chair)
What is your CMT login email address?
What are you trying to do?
What time did this occur?

What was your last actiion before seeing this error? (e.g. Click on the 'submit' button)?

To use the Conference Management Tool (CMT) system you must have:

  • A JavaScript enabled browser
  • A browser that accepts cookies

Conference PC Members:

  • Hyperlinks are sent to you via e-mail. Some e-mail clients display the links incorrectly. All hyperlinks should be on a single line. If, they are displayed on two lines, you may need to manually cut and paste the link back together. In addition, some e-mail clients replace the equal sign ("=") with the code ("3D"). If you see "3D" in a hyperlink, then your e-mail client has made the replacement and you need to manually replace the "3D" with "=".

Tested browsers and operating systems: The CMT system has been tested with the following browsers and operating systems:
  • Internet Explorer 6.0 - Windows XP
  • Internet Explorer 5.0 - Windows 95/98/NT/XP
  • Internet Explorer 4.x - Windows 95/98/NT/XP, MacOS
  • Netscape Navigator 4.x - Windows 95/98/NT/XP, MacOS
  • Netscape Navigator 4.x - Redhat Linux 5.2/7.2
This does not mean that other browsers will not work, this is simply the sample set that has been tested at this point.

Browsers known to have problems The following browsers will not work properly with the paper upload feature of the CMT and result in in the following error messge:

ASPFileUploaderror '800a0005'
Invalid procedure call or argument.

  • Opera 6.x - Windows 95/98/NT/XP
  • Linux-Konqueror 2.2.2

If you encounter this error, please use one of the tested and verified browsers from above.

Other Compatibility Issues:

  • Norton Firewall and Norton Internet Software can cause an server error on some pages.  If you are running this software and experience a problem with CMT, please disable Norton and try again.
